Passive Fire Protection
We are certified BM Trada Q-Mark for fire door installation, fire door maintenance and fire stopping installation, in addition to having certification for the fire protection of structural steel with Warrington Fire Firas.
Passive fire protection (PFP) is an integral component of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP attempts to contain fires or slow the spread, by use of fire-resistant walls, floors and doors.
BM Trada is a market-leading certification service to the PFP industry and Trustland Construction was one of the first UK companies to achieve the 3rd party accreditation BM Trada Q-Mark fire stopping installation and Fire Door Installation certification. These accreditations are based on developing key individuals who take responsibility for the training and work carried out by several operatives, and is designed to ensure that fire stopping solutions are being fitted correctly, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Where services such as water, gas, electrics or communications penetrate through a building’s fire-resistant compartment lines, it is vitally important to ensure that the hole is appropriately sealed with a suitable fire stopping solution. Both the Building Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRFSO) require that the person fitting fire-stopping products is competent to do so and third-party certification is the accepted means of demonstrating competency.
There is indeed a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly installed, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end-users that the product they have chosen has been installed correctly and that it should perform as intended.
Trustland directly employs fully qualified fire stoppers and fire door installers and our work is regularly audited by BM Trada to ensure that we maintain a suitable standard for continued certification. Our clients can therefore be assured of a best in class service and the knowledge that they are engaging one of the regions most competent contractors to work on their premises.
In addition to our fire door installation accreditations, we are also certified to carry out fire door maintenance under the same BM Trada Q-Mark scheme and fire protection of structural steel with our Warrington Fire Firas certification. Giving confidence to our clients that their building will continue to stay fire safe in years to come.
