Despite the majority of our sites being closed, we at Trustland Construction have certainly not been sat idle throughout lockdown. Over the past few weeks, we have been working hard on our clients’ essential sites to ensure key workers are safe and operating at maximum capacity. Of course, this has been an uncertain time, as planned project works have ground to a halt and emergency cases have had to be prioritised. To keep busy in the downtime, we have put a focus on improving our processes, completing annual audits and giving our own office a new lease of life!
Since the lockdown started on 23rd March, we have been completing virtual audits on our 9001, 14001 and 45001 ISO business management systems and our ‘Investors In People’ (IIP) standard. We are delighted to say that we have retained accreditations in all four.
This is our 19th year holding the IIP award for training and staff development and we could not be prouder. The recognition simply supports the fact that our personal development programmes, mental health and wellbeing support and commitment to training, all contribute towards what makes us a success.
To try and keep as many of our site staff available as possible, we have filled any gaps in external work by utilising the time to enhance our own HQ offices. Inspired by the glorious weather, we have installed air conditioning throughout the building for staff comfort. Allowing us to finally retire the old desk fans, which is sure to delight our office staff upon their return!
We are also well underway in re-modelling our 1st floor to create phase 1 of a new training facility. This renovation started with a good old spring clean and the relocation of our archive store. Once space was cleared, we removed some of the internal walls and opened a large walk-through, to increase our existing desk space off the main office. This has allowed the site management team hot desks that have previously occupied a separate room, to be moved closer to the hub of action, in a more open-plan layout. This leaves the old office space free to be transformed into a larger training room with capacity for up to 20 delegates.
Our new multi-functional training room will primarily host our fire stopping classes for trainees and our IATP approved asbestos training sessions. We hope that this investment in our future will prove fruitful over time, as we share knowledge and experiences with the Trustland team and our peers within the industry.
